Our Story

Public Interest Partners is social enterprise formed to broaden the scope, outcomes and societal impact of academic-industry partnerships through student leadership and community engagement and reinvestment. A group of students attending San Jose State University is using the specific technical skills and project management principles they are learning in class to advance this enterprise. We view digital equity and sustainability as interconnected prerequisites in the cultivation of a regenerative economy. We take a holistic, asset-based approach to elevating and advancing the continuum of health, education, human resource, workforce, small business, community and economic development.

We support student and academic entrepreneurship through a process in which students and industry mentors facilitate the application of service innovation to public interest technology. Our objective is to co-create a social sector ecosystem dedicated to serving the public good, which includes the transforming philanthropic ecosystem. Human and campus-wide digital twin technologies will play vital roles in the enterprise.

Public Interest Partners supports many of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and aligns with the digital equity plans in each state through the $42.45 billion federal grant program. We support the equitable advancement of high speed, reliable and scalable Internet, including the fiber-to-the-home initiatives of the Fiber Broadband Association. Our global expansion plan welcomes members of the FTTH Councils Global Alliance.

Public Interest Partners is committed to mitigating the risks of AI with thoughtful governance and to unlocking its potential to strengthen global democracy. We work in accordance with the core values of the International Society of Service Innovation Professionals, which are illuminated in this report. https://issip.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/WP_AI_Impacts-to-Global-Democracy_2025-FINAL.docx.pdf
