Our Story

Public Interest Partners works to empower nonprofit organizations in Colorado, working in collaboration with the public health, education and workforce systems across the state, to lead in the design, development and deployment of human-centered public interest technology. We  illuminate the outcomes and impact of our work through solutions stories informed by data journalists. We develop public private partnerships in support of resilient and self-determined communities for the benefit of the individuals who live, learn, work and play in them.

The enterprise is also designed to enable personnel working in the emerging fields and diverse disciplines of public interest technology, communications, journalism, media and law to form the collective tissue of a high-growth industry sector dedicated to serving the social good. Various talent pipelines can be aligned and populated by diversely-skilled individuals working across all industries and sectors who are dedicated to serving the public interest. The process can assist in opening the doors of equitable economic opportunity by busting the silos and breaking down the barriers that compromise the achievement of diverse societal objectives.

We are guided by a publication entitled, " Power to the Public: The Promise of Public Interest Technology". Grateful attribution to Tara Dawson McGuinness and Hana Schank. The book defines public interest technology as the study and application of technology expertise to advance the public interest, generate public benefits and/or advance the public good. Chapter 7 conveys the need for storytelling and investing in people to play vital roles in achieving successful outcomes. https://press.princeton.edu/books/hardcover/9780691207759/power-to-the-public?srsltid=AfmBOoqLdzpLnSp4GztoSUwsAfWaoNE7GYuWEAx0x1ouYV3OL7_3sY_y
